At Kane Ecology we provide a number of training courses on GIS and Mapping throughout the year. All our training courses are taught by practicing GIS users and developers. Our team of professionals has a high level of technical skill and knowledge in GIS and mapping methods with experience of providing a range of training courses.
The range of training courses covers all skill levels from beginners or recent graduates starting out on their chosen career path to seasoned professionals seeking to expand or refresh their knowledge of a particular subject.

Introduction to QGIS
This is a one-day course providing an introduction to GIS and the Open Source GIS platform ‘QGIS’. This training course is 100% classroom-based.
Note: All course participants will need to bring their own laptop with the current long-term release of QGIS pre-loaded.

Introduction to field-based mapping using QGIS
This is a one-day course providing an introduction to field-based mapping solutions with a variety of device and software options with a focus on implementation using the Open Source GIS platform ‘QGIS’. This training course is 50% classroom-based and 50% field-based.
Participants will need a good understanding of GIS, ideally with a working knowledge of QGIS. It is recommended that those without knowledge/experience of QGIS first complete the “Introduction to QGIS” course.
Note: All course participants will need to bring their own laptop with the current long-term release of QGIS pre-loaded. Although not strictly necessary, course participants should ideally bring their own smartphone. Travel to the field site will be by car and although some spaces will be available, participants are encouraged to bring their own car where possible.

Intermediate QGIS
This is a one-day course providing intermediate-level training in the Open Source GIS platform ‘QGIS’. This training course is 100% classroom-based.
Participants will need a good understanding of GIS, with a working knowledge of QGIS. It is recommended that participants first complete the “Introduction to QGIS” course.
Note: All course participants will need to bring their own laptop with the current long-term release of QGIS pre-loaded.
