Kane Ecology Mission:
At Kane Ecology, our mission is to provide clients with pragmatic, cost-effective solutions consistent with the highest standards of professional integrity, skill, and diligence.
Our Background:
Kane Ecology was founded by Dr Dellwyn Kane MCIEEM in 2013 following 14 years working in the environmental sector in Northern Ireland. Since then Kane Ecology has gone from strength to strength, embracing and developing new technologies to improve ecological survey and assessment techniques to provide ever-increasing scientific precision while delivering improvements in efficiency in terms of timescales and costs for clients in the private and public sectors. Kane Ecology is now considered to be one of the leading ecological consultancies in Northern Ireland, specialising in bat ecology, conservation management planning, GIS and ecological mapping.
Our Work:
Since establishment, Kane Ecology has provided ecological survey and assessment services to a wide range of public and private sector clients including numerous private planning applicants, architects and planning consultants, several public sector departments, councils and community organisations.
We have provided surveys and assessments for a wide range of project sizes, from small (£500) to large (£100s of millions) providing all work according to best practice guidelines and within deadlines.
We were also contracted to conduct the first ever landscape-scale ecological mapping exercise in Northern Ireland, producing fine-scale habitat mapping of Lough Neagh ASSI/SPA/Ramsar. We were also commissioned to develop an extensive Geographic Information System (GIS) to facilitate the management of Lough Neagh for nature conservation.
We have provided training to a wide range of clients including small groups of community organisations, large private sector institutions, landscape partnerships and a number of private architectural and planning consultancies.
